What is Airport-CDM?

Airport-Collaborative Decision Making is about everybody involved in the arrival, turnaround and departure of an aircraft working together more efficiently and transparently based on more accurate and timely common information.

It allows each Airport-CDM Partner to optimise their decisions in collaboration with other Airport-CDM Partners, knowing their preferences and constraints with the actual and predicted situation.

Why implement Airport-CDM?

The concept aims at improving operational efficiency at airports by reducing delays, improving the predictability of events during the progress of a flight and optimising the utilisation of resources.

What can Airport-CDM do for your airport & its community?

Here is a summary of the benefits:

For the Airport Operator - improved use of stands/gates will increase capacity; more stable traffic flows and reduced taxi times will lead to fewer queues at the runway or congestion on the apron or taxiways
Air Traffic Control will benefit from improved runway and capacity planning
European Airspace is supplied with more accurate take-off time predictions will lead to more accurate calculations of the network demand; this enhanced flow and capacity management will result in better ATFM slot compliance and reduced number of missed slots
The Ground Handler will benefit from more accurate arrival times, which allows for more accurate planning with more efficient use of resources
The Aircraft Operator will have an improved awareness about the status and location of the aircraft; together with sequence information and better arrival times, more accurate fleet predictions will be possible
Fuel burn due to queues at the threshold will be reduced, which has both economic and environmental benefits
Passengers will benefit from reduction in delays, and fewer missed connections; after disruptions recovery will be faster; also for arrivals more accurate information can be delivered to Flight Information Display Systems and Information Desks

What are the different phases?

There are four distinct and fundamental phases from the moment it is decided Airport-CDM may be of interest to your airport:

the Information Phase
the Analysis Phase
the Implementation Phase
the validation and operation of CDM elements
